About BackPack Food Program

The BackPack Food Program in Mankato, MN, is dedicated to ensuring that students receive nutritious meals and snacks when school is not in session, specifically from September through June. Our mission is to alleviate the impact of food insecurity among children by providing well-balanced, child-friendly breakfasts, lunches, and snacks that meet their basic nutritional needs. Every Thursday, bags filled with wholesome food are discreetly placed into the backpacks of students by their teachers, empowering these children to enjoy a nourishing weekend despite challenging circumstances. We believe that no child should go hungry, and we are committed to supporting families in need with our essential food assistance program.
