About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in North Branch, MN, is dedicated to fostering a sustainable and equitable food system through education and community engagement. This program empowers passionate individuals by providing them with the tools to advocate for social, environmental, and economic justice in food systems. Fellows receive comprehensive training at the Allegheny Farm, where they engage in hands-on learning that includes organic food system education and practical projects like growing and distributing diverse crops, supporting farmers markets, and developing local food distribution channels. The Fellowship emphasizes accessibility, as there is no tuition charge, and encourages collaboration with regional non-profits to enhance community food initiatives and mentor future leaders. Selected participants embark on a six-month residential training program followed by a Community Action Year to implement their knowledge, enhancing food literacy and improving access to healthy food within their communities. Applications are accepted until March each year for the program that runs from May to October.
