About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Rochester, MN is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of advocates for a just food system that prioritizes social equity, environmental stewardship, and economic viability. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this program provides comprehensive organic food system education without tuition fees to ensure accessibility for all aspiring Fellows. During the six-month residency at the Allegheny Farm, participants engage in hands-on learning, cultivating diversified crops on a market-style farm, while also leading initiatives such as school gardens and community educational sessions on food and ecological literacy. Following their training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profit organizations to enhance access to healthy foods, support farmers markets, and empower their communities through food literacy and advocacy. Applications are accepted until March, with programming typically occurring from May to October.
