The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Waseca, MN, is dedicated to empowering individuals to become champions of a fair and sustainable food system. Through hands-on training and mentorship, the Fellowship cultivates leaders who advocate for socially, environmentally, and economically just practices. Participants receive comprehensive organic food system education, allowing them to immerse themselves in diverse agricultural practices and community initiatives. Our program enhances accessibility by offering this transformative experience at no cost to Fellows. Over a six-month period at Allegheny Farm, Fellows engage in practical projects such as growing and distributing crops, implementing health-focused educational sessions, and integrating food literacy into schools. They also play a vital role in supporting local farmers markets and developing partnerships that promote access to nutritious food. Following their residency, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to apply their skills and knowledge effectively. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the experience typically commencing in May.
