The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Zimmerman, MN, is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of advocates and educators committed to building a food system that is fair, sustainable, and economically viable. This immersive program offers selected Fellows a unique opportunity to engage in hands-on learning at the Allegheny Farm in Virginia, where they will receive comprehensive training in organic food systems without any tuition fees, promoting accessibility for all. Throughout their six-month residency, Fellows will grow and distribute diverse crops, lead educational initiatives in healthcare, maintain community gardens, and enhance food literacy across educational platforms. Additionally, they will support local farmers markets and strengthen direct-to-consumer programs, all while fostering collaboration within community food coalitions. After their fellowship, participants enter their Community Action Year, where they apply their skills in partnership with various regional non-profits, making a tangible impact on food access and education. Applications are accepted until March, with experiences typically running from May to October.
