The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Ashley, ND, nurtures future leaders in sustainable food practices by sponsoring and training dedicated individuals to be champions for a just food system. Focused on social equity, environmental stewardship, and economic viability, this fellowship offers a hands-on, tuition-free education at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA. Participants engage in a six-month immersive experience, learning to grow and distribute diverse crops while implementing innovative health education initiatives. Fellows also maintain community gardens, support farmers markets, and develop channels to enhance access to nutritious food. Following their training, they embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to effect positive change. Applications are welcomed until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
