About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Bottineau, ND, cultivates a new generation of leaders dedicated to creating a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this dynamic program trains and empowers Fellows through immersive education in organic food systems, enabling them to advocate for healthier communities. Participants engage in a hands-on, six-month experience at the Allegheny Farm, where they learn to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement educational initiatives, maintain community gardens, and promote food literacy in schools. Following this residential training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profit organizations to enhance access to nutritious food and support community food initiatives. The Fellowship is accessible with no tuition fees, encouraging passionate individuals to apply by March each year and join us in fostering sustainable food practices from May to October.
