The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Cando, ND, is dedicated to cultivating future leaders who are passionate about creating a just and sustainable food system. This comprehensive program sponsors and trains fellows to be educators and advocates for organic food systems through hands-on experiences at the Allegheny Farm. The fellowship emphasizes accessibility, offering tuition-free participation that enables diverse individuals to engage deeply with the principles of social, environmental, and economic justice in food production. During their six-month immersive residency, fellows acquire practical skills in growing and distributing diversified crops, conducting innovative health education sessions, maintaining community and school gardens, and promoting food literacy. Following the residential phase, fellows enter a Community Action Year, where they collaborate with local non-profits to enhance food accessibility, support farmers markets, and engage in community food initiatives. Apply by March each year to join this transformative experience from May to October.
