The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Elgin, ND, offers a transformative opportunity for aspiring advocates of an equitable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship immerses selected individuals in six months of hands-on training at our Allegheny Farm Campus. Our program focuses on organic food system education, ensuring that every Fellow gains the knowledge and experience needed to drive social, environmental, and economic justice in food access. Participants collaborate with community partners to grow and distribute diverse crops, run educational initiatives on health, maintain gardens, and enhance food literacy in schools. By supporting local farmers' markets and direct sales programs, we aim to foster greater access to healthy foods within the community. Additionally, our Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, applying their skills in partnership with regional nonprofit organizations. We believe in making this transformative experience accessible; therefore, we do not charge tuition. For those interested in creating impactful change in our food systems, applications are open until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
