About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Hazen, ND, is dedicated to training and empowering the next generation of advocates for a fair food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Through a comprehensive and tuition-free program, we provide Fellows with rich experiential learning opportunities at our Allegheny Farm Campus, where they focus on organic food system education. Our community-driven initiatives enable Fellows to cultivate diverse crops on market-style farms, implement innovative educational sessions in health care, and develop school and community gardens. We also emphasize the importance of food and ecological literacy, mentoring future leaders while fostering access to healthy foods through farmers markets and direct-to-consumer programs. Selected Fellows engage in six months of hands-on learning, followed by a Community Action Year where they collaborate with local non-profits, making a tangible impact in their communities. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the Fellowship running from May to October.
