The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Kenmare, ND, develops passionate change-makers dedicated to creating a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. This transformative program, hosted by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, offers a unique, no-cost tuition structure to ensure accessibility for all aspiring Fellows. Participants engage in immersive organic food system education that empowers them to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative health care education, manage school and community gardens, and teach food and ecological literacy within their communities. Throughout the six-month residential experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows not only deepen their knowledge but also prepare for a Community Action Year where they apply their skills in collaboration with regional non-profits. Through this fellowship, we aim to foster a network of advocates who support farmers markets, develop distribution channels for healthy foods, and contribute to community food coalitions, ultimately enhancing food access and sustainability.
