About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Lidgerwood, ND, is dedicated to cultivating advocates and educators for a just and sustainable food system. Through a unique, no-cost training program, Fellows are empowered with hands-on experience and knowledge in organic food systems, enabling them to lead initiatives that promote social, environmental, and economic equity. Participants engage in diverse activities, such as growing and distributing crops, managing community gardens, and developing educational programs that enhance food and ecological literacy within schools and communities. Additionally, they play a crucial role in supporting farmers markets and increasing access to healthy foods through innovative distribution channels. Over a transformative six-month period, Fellows live and learn on the Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year where they apply their training with local non-profits. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the experience running from May to October.
