The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Oakes, ND, offers a transformative opportunity for individuals passionate about creating a just food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship provides comprehensive organic food system education, empowering fellows to become dynamic teachers and advocates. Through hands-on training, participants engage in practical initiatives like growing and distributing diverse crops, managing community gardens, and promoting food and ecological literacy within schools. With no tuition fees, our fellowship is designed to ensure accessibility while fostering innovative health care education and supporting farmers markets and direct-to-consumer programs. Selected fellows will immerse themselves in a six-month residency at our Allegheny Farm Campus followed by a Community Action Year, where they will collaborate with regional non-profit organizations to apply their skills in real-world settings. Applications are accepted until March each year, with experiences running from May to October.
