About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Based in Portland, ND, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship is dedicated to cultivating a food system that is equitable, sustainable, and supportive of our communities. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this unique program empowers fellows through comprehensive organic food system education, emphasizing real-world application and advocacy. By participating in hands-on training at Allegheny Farm, selected fellows engage in meaningful projects that include growing and distributing diverse crops, implementing community health education, maintaining gardens, and promoting food literacy in schools. Additionally, fellows have opportunities to contribute to farmers markets and develop strategies to improve access to healthy foods through collaborative efforts with regional non-profit organizations. Our mission promotes accessibility, as the fellowship does not charge tuition, allowing passionate individuals to gain invaluable experience and mentorship while driving positive change in the food landscape. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
