About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Rugby, ND, is dedicated to empowering individuals to advocate for a just food system that prioritizes social equity, environmental sustainability, and economic viability. Our fellowship program provides a unique opportunity for selected participants to engage in hands-on learning at the Allegheny Farm Campus and includes essential training in organic food systems. Throughout their six-month immersive experience, fellows collaborate with community partners to grow diverse crops, facilitate health education sessions, maintain school and community gardens, and nurture food and ecological literacy among students. By developing direct-to-consumer programs and supporting local farmers markets, fellows work to enhance access to healthy foods and foster robust community food coalitions. The fellowship culminates in a Community Action Year, where fellows apply their skills in partnership with regional non-profits, making a tangible impact in their communities. Applications are welcomed until March each year, with fellowships running from May to October, opening the door to a rewarding journey in food advocacy.
