Based in Velva, ND, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship empowers individuals to become advocates for a just and sustainable food system. The program, sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, offers comprehensive, hands-on training in organic agriculture, food equity, and ecological literacy without tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all. Fellows engage in diverse opportunities, including growing and distributing crops on market-style farms, maintaining community gardens, and leading educational initiatives that promote health and nutrition. Throughout their six-month residency at AMI’s Allegheny Farm Campus, and the subsequent Community Action Year, participants collaborate with local non-profits to implement vital community food programs and mentor the next generation of leaders in sustainable food systems. Applications are accepted until March, with experiences running from May to October each year.
