The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Columbus, NE, provides a transformative opportunity for individuals dedicated to creating a just and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this Fellowship empowers participants through comprehensive organic food system education, equipping them to become effective teachers and advocates. With no tuition fee, we prioritize accessibility, enabling Fellows to cultivate their skills in areas such as crop diversification on market-style farms, community garden maintenance, and health education integration. Throughout a six-month immersive experience at our campus, followed by a Community Action Year, Fellows collaborate with regional non-profits to implement innovative solutions supporting healthy food access. From farmers markets to ecological literacy in schools, our mission is to foster a network of empowered individuals committed to enhancing community food resources across the region. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the experience running from May to October.
