About Food Distribution

The Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) is dedicated to offering essential food assistance to low-income households, including the elderly and Native American families, residing on Indian reservations and in designated areas of Thurston, Dakota, and Dixon Counties in Nebraska. Our mission is to ensure that every community member has access to nutritious meals, critical for maintaining health and well-being. In response to the ongoing challenges posed by the Coronavirus, we have adapted our services to prioritize safety, requiring social distancing and minimal in-person contact. While the Winnebago Food Distribution Food Store is currently closed, we facilitate food access by taking phone orders and allowing pick-ups by appointment from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with precautions in place to maintain a safe distance. Our dedicated staff is also available to assist elderly individuals and those without transportation through scheduled curbside deliveries. We encourage eligible households to apply for assistance; applications can be processed over the phone during our business hours. We accept documentation via email, fax, and text, ensuring that we can support our community efficiently and compassionately.
