The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Fremont, NE, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to become advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship offers a unique opportunity for participants to engage in organic food system education and hands-on experience at the Allegheny Farm. Fellows will have the chance to grow and distribute diverse crops, lead educational initiatives on health and nutrition, maintain community gardens, and enhance food and ecological literacy in schools. The program emphasizes the importance of equitable access to healthy food by supporting local farmers markets and developing distribution channels for underserved communities. Selected Fellows will immerse themselves in a six-month residential experience, followed by a Community Action Year, where they can apply their training in collaboration with regional non-profit organizations. Admission applications are accepted until March each year, with experiences typically running from May to October.
