About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Gibbon, NE, is dedicated to nurturing a new generation of advocates for equitable food systems through comprehensive training and hands-on experiences. Supported by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this program empowers Fellows with organic food system education and practical skills necessary for fostering social, environmental, and economic justice in food systems. During a transformative six-month residency at the Allegheny Farm Campus, selected participants engage in diverse activities such as cultivating and distributing crops, managing community gardens, and conducting educational sessions on health and nutrition. Following their residency, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, partnering with local nonprofits to implement their learning and promote food accessibility. By eliminating program tuition, we ensure that the Fellowship remains accessible to all passionate individuals eager to contribute to their communities. Applications are accepted until March, with the program running from May to October each year, inviting dedicated individuals to help reshape the food landscape in their regions.
