The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, located in Hebron, NE, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. Through a hands-on, experiential six-month program at the Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows engage in comprehensive organic food system education without any tuition barriers, promoting inclusivity for all participants. As part of this fellowship, they gain valuable experience in growing and distributing diversified crops, implementing innovative health care education, maintaining community gardens, and enhancing food literacy in schools. The program extends beyond the farm, empowering Fellows to support local farmers markets, develop increased access to healthy foods, and foster community food coalitions. Following their intensive training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to apply their skills and knowledge. Applications are accepted until March for experiences starting in May, offering a transformative opportunity to make meaningful changes in food systems.
