About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Located in La Vista, NE, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship empowers individuals to become educators and advocates for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this tuition-free program offers invaluable organic food system education and hands-on training, enabling Fellows to engage with community partners to grow and distribute diverse crops through market-style farming, implement innovative educational sessions in health care, maintain community gardens and school programs, and enhance food and ecological literacy. Over a six-month experiential learning period at the Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a dedicated Community Action Year, selected Fellows apply their insights by collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to support farmers' markets, develop healthy food distribution channels, and strengthen community food coalitions. Applications are welcomed each year before March, with experiences typically running from May to October.
