About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
Based in Louisville, NE, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship empowers individuals to become passionate advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Through hands-on training at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, Fellows gain invaluable knowledge in organic farming and food systems education without incurring tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all. The Fellowship offers a unique opportunity to engage in impactful initiatives such as growing and distributing diverse crops, implementing innovative health education, maintaining community gardens, and enhancing food literacy in schools. Selected Fellows participate in six months of immersive learning followed by a Community Action Year where they apply their skills in partnership with local non-profit organizations, driving efforts to increase access to healthy foods and support community food initiatives. To embark on this transformative journey, applicants should submit their applications by March of the year they wish to participate, with the program typically running from May to October.
