The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in O'Neill, NE, empowers individuals to become passionate advocates for a just and sustainable food system through comprehensive training and hands-on experience. This transformative program offers aspiring leaders an opportunity to engage in organic food system education without any tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all. Fellows will spend six months at the Allegheny Farm Campus, where they will learn to cultivate diverse crops, implement innovative health care education, maintain community gardens, and promote food literacy in schools. Additionally, they will support local farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives, enhancing access to healthy foods in the community. By the end of their training, selected Fellows will embark on a Community Action Year, partnering with regional non-profits to apply their knowledge and skills, fostering food justice and community health in Nebraska and beyond. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program typically running from May to October.
