About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, located in Valentine, NE, is committed to transforming the food landscape through hands-on education and community engagement. We sponsor, train, and empower Fellows to become passionate teachers and advocates for a food system that promotes social, environmental, and economic justice. Our program emphasizes accessibility, as we do not charge tuition for our Farm and Food Study, ensuring that individuals from diverse backgrounds can participate. Over six months, selected Fellows immerse themselves in experiential learning at the AMI’s Allegheny Farm Campus, gaining valuable knowledge in organic farming, food literacy, and community outreach. After their training, they embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profits to implement initiatives such as growing and distributing diversified crops, running educational health sessions, and supporting farmers markets. Applications are open until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October, fostering the next generation of leaders in sustainable food systems.
