About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Charlestown, NH, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to become effective advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this Fellowship offers a six-month, hands-on experience at the Allegheny Farm, where selected Fellows gain vital knowledge in organic food systems without the burden of tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all. During their time with us, Fellows engage in impactful projects such as growing and distributing diverse crops, hosting health education sessions, maintaining community gardens, and enhancing food and ecological literacy within schools. Additionally, they support local farmers markets and collaborate with community coalitions to improve access to healthy foods. Following their residency, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, applying their skills with regional non-profit organizations to make a tangible difference. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
