About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Deerfield, NH, offers a unique opportunity for individuals to become advocates for a just food system through comprehensive training and hands-on experience. This Fellowship is dedicated to promoting social, environmental, and economic equity in food systems, ensuring accessibility by eliminating tuition costs. Participants engage in a six-month immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm, where they receive organic food system education and develop skills necessary to support community initiatives. Fellows work alongside local partners to cultivate a diverse range of crops, implement innovative health care educational sessions, maintain community gardens, and deliver food literacy programs in schools. They also contribute to farmers markets and create new distribution channels to enhance access to healthy foods. Following their training, Fellows enter a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to effect meaningful change. Applications are accepted until March each year, with experiences commencing in May.
