The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Exeter, NH, is dedicated to fostering advocates for a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this unique program provides aspiring leaders with hands-on training and education in organic food systems, enabling them to grow and distribute diversified crops on market-style farms, implement innovative health care educational sessions, maintain community gardens, and integrate food and ecological literacy into school curricula. By supporting farmers markets and community food coalitions, Fellows have the opportunity to enhance local access to healthy foods. The Fellowship features a six-month, immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year, where selected individuals partner with regional non-profits to put their knowledge into practice. The program is tuition-free to ensure accessibility, with applications typically due in March for the experience running from May to October.
