About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Gilford, NH, empowers passionate individuals to become advocates and educators for a just and sustainable food system. Through our tuition-free program, participants immerse themselves in hands-on agriculture and food education experiences at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA. Our Fellows engage in diverse initiatives, including growing and distributing organic crops, leading community agricultural education, maintaining gardens, and fostering food and ecological literacy in schools. The fellowship not only supports local farmers markets and direct-to-consumer sales but also helps increase access to healthy food through strategic distribution channels. Over a transformative six-month residential fellowship followed by a Community Action Year, participants partner with regional non-profits to implement impactful projects. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
