About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in New Ipswich, NH, is dedicated to cultivating advocates for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Through hands-on training and education at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, our program empowers selected Fellows to engage with organic food systems and take on vital roles in their communities. We emphasize accessibility by not charging tuition, enabling a diverse group of individuals to learn about growing and distributing diversified crops, conducting innovative health care education sessions, and maintaining community gardens. Our Fellows also gain skills in teaching food and ecological literacy in schools, supporting farmers markets, and developing distribution channels that enhance access to healthy foods. Over six months of intensive experiential learning followed by a Community Action Year, participants apply their knowledge in partnership with regional non-profit organizations. Applications are open until March, with the Fellowship experience running from May to October each year, making a meaningful impact in the community and fostering future leaders in the sustainable food movement.
