About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Newport, NH, is dedicated to nurturing a new generation of advocates and educators who champion a food system rooted in social, environmental, and economic justice. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship offers a unique opportunity for selected participants to receive hands-on training at our Allegheny Farm Campus. Throughout this immersive six-month program, Fellows gain practical knowledge in organic food systems, from growing and distributing diverse crops to leading innovative health education sessions. Our Fellows actively engage with community partners to establish school gardens, promote food and ecological literacy, and enhance access to healthy foods through farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives. This fellowship emphasizes collaboration and mentorship, empowering participants to apply their training in real-world settings during the Community Action Year. Applications are welcomed until March of each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
