The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Newton, NH, is devoted to cultivating the next generation of leaders who will advocate for a just food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this transformative program offers a six-month experiential training at Allegheny Farm, where selected Fellows receive organic food system education without any tuition fees, ensuring accessibility. Throughout their journey, Fellows engage in a variety of impactful activities, including growing diverse crops on a market-style farm, implementing innovative health care education, maintaining community and school gardens, and promoting food and ecological literacy in educational settings. The Fellowship also emphasizes supporting local farmers' markets and enhancing access to healthy foods through strategic distribution channels. Following their training, Fellows enter a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to apply their skills and knowledge. Applications are welcomed annually until March, with the program running from May to October.
