About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Salem, NH, empowers passionate individuals to become advocates and educators for a food system that promotes social, environmental, and economic justice. This unique experience offers a tuition-free program that facilitates access to organic food system education, allowing Fellows to engage in hands-on training at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA. Participants will cultivate diverse crops on a market-style farm, lead community garden initiatives, and integrate food and ecological literacy into educational settings. Our mission extends beyond the farm, as Fellows collaborate with regional non-profits during their Community Action Year to support farmers' markets, develop distribution channels for healthy foods, and mentor future leaders in community food initiatives. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the immersive experience running from May through October, fostering a strong foundation in sustainable food practices and community engagement.
