About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this transformative program offers an immersive six-month residential experience at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, Virginia. Fellows receive comprehensive organic food system education and are actively involved in practical initiatives such as growing and distributing diverse crops, maintaining community gardens, and implementing innovative health education sessions. The Fellowship also nurtures strong community ties by supporting direct-to-consumer programs, developing food distribution channels for improved access to healthy food, and mentoring future cohorts. With no tuition fees, our aim is to ensure that the Fellowship is accessible to all passionate about making a difference in their communities. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
