General Assistance (WorkFirst NJ) is dedicated to supporting individuals in Fort Lee, NJ, who are facing urgent needs. Our program offers Emergency Assistance (EA) to eligible clients, providing crucial resources such as essential food, clothing, and shelter, as well as temporary rental aid and help with utility payments. We also assist with transportation for housing searches and cover moving expenses. While Emergency Assistance typically spans 12 months, we recognize that hardships can persist, and extensions may be granted based on specific circumstances. Additionally, those who have been employed for 20 weeks or more and find themselves out of work through no fault of their own may qualify for state unemployment benefits, with welfare options available afterward.
