About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Morristown, NJ, is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of leaders in the food system, emphasizing social, environmental, and economic justice. Through an accessible program that does not charge tuition, we empower selected Fellows with comprehensive organic food system education and hands-on experience at our Allegheny Farm Campus in Highland County, VA. Our Fellows engage in a six-month immersive training, which includes growing and distributing diverse crops, conducting educational sessions on innovative healthcare, and maintaining school and community gardens. They also play a vital role in enhancing food literacy through school activities, supporting local farmers markets, and developing efficient distribution channels to enhance community access to healthy foods. Following their training, each Fellow embarks on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to implement their skills and advocate for sustainable food practices. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the Fellowship experience typically running from May to October, making a significant impact on the local food community.
