Located in Alto, NM, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship is dedicated to empowering individuals to become advocates and educators for a just food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship offers comprehensive, hands-on training to build knowledge in organic food systems without charging tuition, ensuring accessibility for all participants. Throughout a six-month immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows acquire practical skills in growing and distributing diverse crops, implementing educational health initiatives, maintaining community gardens, and enhancing food and ecological literacy in schools. After their fellowship, participants engage in a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to expand access to healthy foods and support local farmers’ markets. Applications for this transformative experience are open until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
