Located in Bayard, NM, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship is dedicated to cultivating a just and sustainable food system through hands-on education and community engagement. This immersive program empowers selected Fellows to become knowledgeable advocates for food system equity by providing tuition-free training that emphasizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Participants gain practical experience over six months at the Allegheny Farm Campus, engaging in activities such as growing diversified crops, supporting local farmers markets, and integrating food and ecological literacy into educational settings. Following their time on the farm, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, applying their skills alongside regional non-profit organizations to address critical food access challenges. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the Fellowship experience running from May to October, ensuring ample opportunity to impact food systems positively in New Mexico and beyond.
