The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Gallup, NM, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to become passionate advocates for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Through an immersive experience in organic food system education, selected Fellows engage in meaningful initiatives such as growing and distributing diverse crops on market-style farms, implementing innovative health education sessions, and maintaining community gardens. This Fellowship, which does not charge tuition to ensure accessibility, also emphasizes teaching food and ecological literacy in schools, supporting local farmers markets, and developing channels for increased access to nutritious food. Throughout their six-month residency at the Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows gain invaluable hands-on experience before embarking on a Community Action Year, where they collaborate with local non-profits to put their training into action. Applications are welcomed annually, with a deadline of March for a program that typically runs from May to October.
