About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Jal, NM is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of advocates for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. We empower our Fellows through comprehensive, tuition-free training that includes hands-on experience in organic farming, community engagement, and food education. Participants work collaboratively to grow and distribute a diverse array of crops, implement health-focused educational programs, maintain community and school gardens, and develop essential food distribution channels aimed at increasing access to nutritious options. Throughout the six-month immersive program at Allegheny Farm, followed by a year of practical application with local non-profits, our Fellows build valuable skills while supporting initiatives that strengthen community food systems and promote ecological literacy. Applications are accepted until March each year for a unique experiential learning opportunity from May to October.
