Located in Mesquite, NM, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of advocates for a just food system that respects social, environmental, and economic principles. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship offers an accessible experience with no tuition fees, ensuring that aspiring leaders can engage deeply without financial barriers. Through experiential learning at the Allegheny Farm, selected fellows receive comprehensive training in organic food systems, equipping them to implement community gardens, support farmers markets, and lead educational initiatives that enhance food literacy in schools. Following their immersive six-month residency, fellows enter a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to apply their knowledge and foster access to nutritious food. Applications are open until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
