About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Ruidoso Downs, NM, fosters a new generation of advocates and educators dedicated to creating a food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically just. By sponsoring and training exceptional Fellows, this program ensures accessibility to organic food system education without any tuition fees. During their immersive six-month experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows learn to grow and distribute a variety of crops on a market-style farm, implement educational health initiatives, maintain vibrant school and community gardens, and enhance food and ecological literacy in local schools. Following this practical training, the Community Action Year allows them to collaborate with regional non-profit organizations, supporting essential efforts like farmers markets, direct-to-consumer programs, and community food coalitions to increase access to healthy foods. Applications are welcomed yearly until March, with hands-on experiences typically running from May to October.
