About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Astoria, OR, is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of advocates for a just and sustainable food system. This transformative program offers organic food system education without tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all aspiring fellows. Participants engage in hands-on experience at the Allegheny Farm, focusing on growing diverse crops, teaching food and ecological literacy, and implementing innovative community health initiatives. Through collaboration with regional non-profits, fellows also support local farmers markets and enhance access to healthy foods. Over six months, selected fellows will immerse themselves in a vibrant agricultural community, followed by a Community Action Year where they put their knowledge into practice, all while fostering a commitment to social, environmental, and economic justice within the food system. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
