The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship based in Boring, OR, empowers individuals to become champions for a sustainable food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Our Fellowship offers a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to engage in hands-on learning and advocacy through a six-month immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA. We emphasize accessibility by not charging tuition, enabling a diverse group of Fellows to gain vital education on organic farming and food systems. During their time with us, Fellows contribute significantly to community initiatives by growing and distributing a variety of crops, running educational health care sessions, supporting school and community gardens, and promoting food and ecological literacy. Our program also encourages involvement in local farmers markets and the development of efficient food distribution channels to enhance access to healthy foods. By fostering collaboration with regional non-profits during their Community Action Year, our Fellows apply their knowledge in real-world settings, shaping the future of sustainable agriculture. Applications are open until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
