About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Coos Bay, OR, dedicates itself to training and empowering passionate individuals to advocate for an equitable food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Our program offers comprehensive organic food system education and experiential learning opportunities, enabling selected Fellows to engage in activities such as growing and distributing diverse crops on market-style farms, implementing innovative health care educational sessions, and maintaining school and community gardens. By integrating food and ecological literacy into local education, supporting farmers markets, and developing accessible distribution channels for healthy foods, we aim to strengthen community resilience. Participants embark on a six-month immersive experience at our Farm and Food Study campus, followed by a Community Action Year where they partner with regional non-profits to apply their training and make a tangible impact. We invite aspiring advocates to join us; the application process is open until March for programs running from May to October each year.
