About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Florence, OR is dedicated to cultivating advocates for an equitable food system that values social, environmental, and economic justice. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this immersive program offers an accessible, tuition-free education focused on organic food systems. Fellows engage in hands-on training at our Allegheny Farm Campus, where they learn to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative health care education, maintain community and school gardens, and promote food literacy. Throughout their fellowship, participants also play a vital role in supporting farmers markets and enhancing community food access through mentorship and collaboration with local non-profits. The program encompasses a six-month experiential study period, followed by a year of community action, enabling fellows to apply their skills and knowledge to create impactful change within the region's food system. Applications are welcomed until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
