About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in La Grande, OR, is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of advocates and educators for a sustainable food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Through a no-cost, immersive program, selected Fellows receive hands-on training in organic farming practices and food system education. This transformative experience includes opportunities to grow and distribute diverse crops, lead educational workshops on innovative healthcare, maintain community gardens, and teach food and ecological literacy in schools. Fellows also play a key role in supporting farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives, enhancing local access to healthy foods through the development of effective distribution channels. Following a six-month residency at the Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows engage in a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to apply their learnings. Interested participants should complete their applications by March, with experiences typically running from May to October.
