The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Lake Oswego, OR, is dedicated to training and empowering passionate individuals to become advocates for a food system that champions social, environmental, and economic justice. This fellowship, hosted by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, offers a comprehensive, tuition-free experience that includes organic food system education and hands-on training at the spectacular Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA. Fellows engage in impactful projects like growing and distributing diverse crops, leading educational sessions on innovative healthcare, maintaining community gardens, and promoting food literacy in schools. This program also supports local farmers' markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives, enhancing access to healthy foods for all. Selected Fellows embark on a six-month, experiential residency followed by a Community Action Year, where they collaborate with regional non-profits to apply their training effectively. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October, ensuring a meaningful opportunity to make a difference in the food system.
