About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Reedsport, OR, is dedicated to cultivating leaders who advocate for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Through a hands-on, experiential learning model at the Allegheny Farm Campus, selected Fellows engage in six months of comprehensive training, where they gain expertise in organic food systems, education, and community outreach. The Fellowship emphasizes accessibility by not charging tuition, ensuring that individuals from diverse backgrounds can partake in this transformative experience. Throughout their journey, Fellows collaborate with local non-profits to grow diversified crops, implement innovative health education sessions, manage community gardens, and integrate food and ecological literacy into educational curricula. They also support farmers' markets, develop distribution channels for healthier food access, and mentor future cohorts, all while actively participating in community food initiatives. Applications are accepted until March each year, with opportunities spanning from May through October.
