About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Salem, OR, is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of leaders in sustainable agriculture and food equity. Our program sponsors and trains passionate Fellows to become knowledgeable advocates for a food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically just. Through comprehensive organic food system education, participants work hands-on at the Allegheny Farm, engaging in practices such as diversified crop production, school and community gardening, and innovative health care education initiatives. The Fellowship also emphasizes food and ecological literacy, promoting access to healthy foods through support for farmers markets and direct-to-consumer channels. Selected Fellows benefit from a six-month experiential training program, followed by a Community Action Year where they apply their learning in collaboration with regional non-profits. We believe in making this transformative experience accessible, which is why we do not charge tuition. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
